AMCHAMDR receives the General Counsel of the United States Department of Commerce, Leslie B. Kiernan

In the meeting were addressed relevant aspects of the Public Procurement and Contracting Law, currently in the dominican Congress.


KIERNAN ENCUENTRO REDUCIDA 2SANTO DOMINGO.-The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) received the visit of the General Counsel of the Department of Commerce of the United States, Leslie B. Kiernan, who, together with a delegation from that department, exhausted an institutional agenda in the country focused on the Public Procurement and Contracting Law and ethics in the Rule of Law.

Ms. Kiernan, were accompanied by Adam Al Sarraf and Jorge Aguilar from the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the same US entity, was received by our executive vice president, William Malamud, the vice presidents of the Board of Directors, Francesca Rainieri and María Waleska Álvarez , Juana Barceló, also a member of the council and Jóribe Castillo, coordinator of Public Policies of the Chamber.

In addition, the members of the AMCHAMDR Legal Committee present were: Jaime Roca, Mary Fernández and Fabiola Medina. On behalf of the US Embassy in the country, Erick Wolf, Justin Tapp and Juanita Aguirre participated in the lunch.

During lunch, William Malamud presented to Kiernan the institutional priorities of AMCHAMDR and its focus on consolidating the principles of the Rule of Law, which offers legal certainty as a basis for the sustainable development of the country and its impact on the creation of favorable conditions for trade and investment.

For his part, Jóribe Castillo, coordinator of Public Policies of AMCHAMDR, highlighted the work carried out by the Chamber to promote legal security for the business ecosystem of the Dominican Republic, based on respect for the Rule of Law and how it has been the central axis of the institution to ensure the establishment of clear rules and regulations necessary to continue expanding the commercial horizons of the Dominican Republic.

Kiernan and the delegation that accompanied her learned about the vision of those present at lunch on the Public Procurement and Contracting Bill, highlighting its importance for the promotion of the principles of the Rule of Law and a favorable environment for democracy, rights human resources and investments in the Dominican Republic.
