Miami, FL.- The delegation of our AMCHAMDRUP Technological Mission, made up of some 28 participants from the public-private sector, successfully concluded its participation in the eMerge Americas 2023 Fair, held in Miami Beach, Florida, where the members of the commission acquired important lessons and the country made significant progress in the technology and entrepreneurship sector.
After the official opening of the fair, our delegation attended the official opening of the Technology Fair, where they had access to important presentations and learned first-hand about the ecosystem of the entrepreneurial and technological world that takes place in that city, among which Highlights include the presentation: “A Conversation With The One And Only”, by the entrepreneur and American football star, Tom Brady, and an exhibition that included the mayor of the Miami Dade, Daniella Levine, as a speaker.
AMCHAMDR, together with INDOTEL and Prodominicana, inaugurated stand 355 of the fair, with the presence at the official opening, the Consul of the Dominican Republic in Miami, Geanilda Vásquez. Our booth was visited by Manny Medina, founder of eMerge Americas, and several entrepreneurs and companies established in the United States, who were interested in learning about the advantages of investing in the Dominican Republic and the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems established in the country, thus generating networking opportunities and business appointments.
Friday began with the announcement of the top 25 startups in the emerging business contest, where two Dominican startups that joined us were selected: Abacus Exchange and EducologyHub. This representation marks a precedent and a great step for the Dominican Republic in terms of technology and entrepreneurship, by placing these business ideas in a setting where they could present their value proposals to potential investors and interested parties who attended the stand.
“This milestone represents 6% of all startups that will present their businesses at this important event,” said William Malamud, executive vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic.
The Cafecito Lounge was another highlight of the day, where our executive vice president, William Malamud, presented the great facilities and high feasibility of investing in the Dominican Republic to the fair attendees. During the conversation, Claudia Chez, coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Commission of the same organization, presented the Entrepreneurship Map of the Dominican Republic, whose objective is to connect entrepreneurs with potential partners, investors, suppliers and other actors.
During their visit to Miami, the delegation of our AMCHAMDRUP Mission visited the Levan Innovation Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Mana Common in Miami, digital development and entrepreneurship centers that seek to revolutionize Miami and turn it into a technology hub for Latin American and Caribbean.
During these visits, the AMCHAMDR commission had the opportunity to learn about the projects and initiatives that are being developed in these technology centers in Miami, through talks and demonstrations, and thus acquire lessons that serve to promote business development and for entrepreneurs in our country. In addition, our delegation had the opportunity to share with Moishe Mana, founder and CEO of Mana Common, who was present during the visit to that institution.
