In this sense, by assuring that "The Dominican Republic has everything to continue growing, generating wealth and well-being", the president of AMCHAMDR, Roberto Herrera, pointed out the importance of continuing to deepen the country's strategic commercial alliance with the United States.

"We reiterate that our country has the most solid, stable and profitable trade relations with the United States, to such an extent that imports represent more than 43% of total Dominican imports, while exports to the United States reached more than 50%. % in 2022”, explained Herrera.

In addition, Herrera opted for the potential development of Haiti and explained that once the challenges faced by the neighboring nation are overcome, it would not only represent a great opportunity for growth and development of its citizens but also for the Dominican Republic.

Assuring that the crisis that Haiti is going through is not only a threat to the Dominican Republic, but to the entire region, Fernando Capellán asked to join efforts to promote jobs in Haitian territory and thus prevent the worsening of the migratory flow, the entry of migrants and agents of social insecurity to our country.

"The opportunities of the new international markets such as the existing co-production by the Hope & Help Law and DR Cafta, in the case of Haiti, are not being taken advantage of and these agreements place us in a position of competitiveness and more at this time than we will be able to use the facilities of the Port of Manzanillo in the near future”, he assured.

The executive vice president of AMCHAMDR, William Malamud, emphasized the importance of understanding the development of the global economy and carrying out actions that keep the productive sectors of the Dominican Republic at the forefront.

“Today, the external economy – trade, tourism, remittances – is equal to or greater than the internal one. Therefore, it is important to understand the underlying dynamics that shape the global economy and develop strategies that protect us from downside risks and position us to take advantage of emerging opportunities,” said Malamud.
